The Social Circle Redskins Boys Basketball team was victorious Friday night over the visiting Stone Mountain Pirates.

The Redskins came out blazing hot from 3 as senior forward CJ Branch-Johnson scorched three 3 pointers, while his brother, sophomore guard Tyrhell Branch, had one of his own. The Redskins chiseled open a 16-8 lead after one.

Things ground to a halt in the 2nd quarter, as the Redskins could only muster 6 points. But it almost didn’t matter, as their defensive prowess was on full display, holding the Pirates to a 3 point quarter. Social Circle took a halftime lead, 22-11.

The Pirates turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter, trapping and guarding ferociously, hoping to con the young ‘Skins into some turnovers. It was to no avail. The Redskins took care of the ball and were patient offensively, maintaining the lead into the fourth quarter, 30-22.

With the Pirates fighting for momentum, returning sophomore All-Region guard, KJ Reid, effectively put the visiting team away with a 9 point quarter.

The Redskins were led by Reid and Branch-Johnson with 13 each and Branch with 12. Sophomore forward, Trey Douglas, had 6. Sophomore guard Amarion Russell had 2, as did freshmen center AJ Vinson. Senior guard, Tyreek Terrell, had 1.
